SUMMARY:Preparing the Way for Jesus
DESCRIPTION:As the Northern and Southern Kingdoms of Israel fell to foreign conquest by 586 BC, the despairing, subject people of Israel felt abandoned by a God they had betrayed. But God, working through his prophets to the people in captivity and behind the scenes throughout the ancient Mediterranean world during the 400 ‘Silent Years’ presented people with a message of hope and the promise of a messiah to save them. Now as then, God never fails to love His people and seek their redemption.\nTaught by Bill Soderberg.\n

SUMMARY:2026 GO Conference
DESCRIPTION:We may know God’s story, but do we experience it? We may know it’s true, but do we see its beauty? Have we become one with Jesus through His redemptive work on the cross? At its heart, the Bible is telling a story of God’s ongoing, miraculous integration of all things through Jesus Christ. We are not outside of that story, and that story is not outside of us.  We are part of it. As we become one with Jesus Christ, we don’t just read the story to understand; we inhabit it to change. And we change not only ourselves, but our world as well.\nAt the 2026 GO Conference, we will explore what it means to become fully integrated with God and His plan. We will see how, through Jesus Christ, we are being restored day by day; that God is using all of our experiences, our trials, our gifts, and our shortcomings to draw us into a closer, more integrated relationship with Him. SUMMARY:Chicago Short-Term Mission Trip
DESCRIPTION:WHO: BCC Outward Min. Short-Term Mission Trip Team will serve with Chicago Partners, Jesse and Emily Bond and YWAM (Youth With A Mission). Team Leaders: Pastor Alec Zacaroli and Dan Bertuna\nWHAT: Two ministry slots per day—chosen from many options, most of which involve evangelism and are listed on our website ywamchicago.org , but others are possible, e.g. work/ physical service-type projects—with briefing and debriefing tailored to the type of ministry and the needs of the group. We prefer to have groups ride public transportation, i.e. CTA buses and trains (as opposed to using their own vans, Uber, etc.) for the sake of greater exposure to the life of the city and opportunities to shine the light of Jesus in dark places.\nWHERE: Chicago, Illinois.\nWHY: “Reaching the city to reach the world” means we see the treasure in opportunities to reach many ethnic, cultural and religious groups (Rev. 21:24) gathered in this and other urban areas, brought near by the providence of God (Acts 17:26-27) to hear the Good News of salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ, and to experience—and possibly join—a vibrant demonstration of the kingdom of God’s love expressed through His Church. We want people to witness the message of Jesus and receive Him, and we live out this vision in three main ways:\n\nBy providing safe, clean, affordable housing for those who come to live and serve among these people.\nBy teaching the Bible and evangelizing to the lost (Matthew 28:19-20).\nBy intercession, esp. praying for kings and rulers (1 Timothy 2:1-4) whose decisions and decrees affect the lives of billions of people.\n\n \nPRICE PER PERSON— $800 per person. This includes lodging (a bed, bathrooms, space to eat and relax), three meals per day and roundtrip airfare and ground transportation. Fundraising tips are available from team leaders and the Short-Term Missions Coordinator.\nLODGING: Bunk beds in a dorm-like setting with electricity and central air for heat/ cool. Males and females stay in separate apartments in the same building, but they share meals, team devotions, teaching, relaxing, etc. in a third space, our basement. SUMMARY:Costa Rica Short-Term Mission Trip
DESCRIPTION:Join us May 20-27, 2026 for a life changing week in Costa Rica! Our team will partner with Mission Point Ministry to work with two Costa Rican church congregations located on the Carribean side of the country in Guacimo and Zent. Activities include putting together and hosting a festival (think Fall Festival at Burke) and a free medical clinic. Medical professionals as well as non-medical team members are needed.\n\nSynopsis:\nOur team will be working with two Costa Rica local churches. The churches are located on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica in Guacimo and Zent. Our mission will have to primary activities at each church. First, this trip is a medical mission focused on largely screening people who haven’t accessed the social medical system in Costa Rica. We will be working with a local doctor. Through our screening we can identify heath issues not previously identified and through the referral of the local doctor we can get them into the medical system.  Costa Rica has a strong socialized medical system and getting this entry done for them can be lifesaving. Secondly, we will be doing a Festival at each church.  Like the Fall Festival we do at Burke in October. The focus of this activity is bringing in the community that may not be familiar with the local church.  We will have activities that are Biblically focused, with materials to take home, and largely focused towards children. We benefit from great local missionary contacts, Abyzhadwl and Gladys Prado, who are very easy with which to work. As our team builds out, we have the possibility to add more activities as the capabilities of our team are identified.\nAs with all our short-term mission trips, we going to conduct these identified activities, but we have other goals. We want to build relationships with the local church and community, we want to practice compassion in our serving, we want to glorify God in all we do, and we want to reach the lost and broken souls for Christ. We will have meetings in advance of the trip to talk through aspects of cross-cultural ministry to prepare us and build cohesiveness of our team before we leave. I hope you can join us. The team will be limited in size, typically 12-15 team members, so we can be focused on the mission at hand. What follows are some common questions asked with some answers, but do not hesitate to contact me at the information at the beginning of the page by either email, text, or phone. I happy to discuss the trip and any specific questions you may have.\n \nFAQ’s:\nWhere will we stay?  We will be staying at a local camp. Men and women in separate cabins. Each cabin has their own bathroom with shower. Typically 4-6 people in each cabin. There are bunk beds in the cabins.  he cabins have air conditioning and wifi. There is even a pool right by the cabins we can use. We will be the only people at the camp.\nWhere and what will we eat?  Most of our meals will be at the Guacimo church prepared by church members in their kitchen. I may be biased but I think the food is wonderful, but certainly, the fellowship with the church members is best. Also, by having our meals there, it helps them earn some money. When we are away from the Guacimo church, we typically have prepared sack lunches or stop at a local restaurant which we have previously cleared.\nShould I drink the water?  Costa Rica has a very good water system, but every water system, including ours in the US, has different organisms in it. We will always have bottled water available. Plenty to fill water bottles, which is highly encouraged. Any drinks at meals will be from bottled water. The food is fresh, the fruit is amazing, and not very spicy.\nHow will we travel?  We will travel together from the airport to and from Costa Rica. In Costa Rica, we will have our own bus and bus driver that will always be with us.\nDo I need to be able to speak Spanish?  No. We will have translators with us and many of the activities will not require the use of Spanish.\nWhat makes me qualified to go on the trip?  You must love the Lord, care for others, and have a servant’s heart. Things will be different from Northern Virginia and that requires patience and flexibility, but it is only a week. Everyone I have ever taken to Costa Rica comes back blessed. If you let God, he will change you while you are there.\nWill we have any fun or only work?  Honestly, the work is fun, BUT, we will have one day that we will take and go to the beach (likely Puerto Viejo) before we return.\nHow do I apply for the trip?  Apply today using the link provided on this page.*\nApplication Deadline:  March 15, 2026\n*You will be asked to create an account on Managed Missions to apply for the trip. This does NOT lock you into any commitment nor does it guarantee that you will be placed on the team. Create an account, input your information and a profile picture, and then select your preferred trip(s). SUMMARY:South Africa Short-Term Mission Trip
DESCRIPTION:Join us August 1-10, 2026 for our growing tradition of serving in the South African countryside of Canzibe. This team will primarily focus on construction for the community center of our partnering organization 25:40. In addition to construction, team members will have the opportunity to interact and pray with the wonderful children and adults of this unique South African community.\n\nAbout Our Partner Organization: 25:40 provides preschool education, after school programs, sport and life coaching to local orphaned and vulnerable children in service areas such as Port Alfred and Canzibe. The OVC (orphaned and vulnerable children) program aims to help children trapped in dire socio-economic conditions. The program includes the Makokhanye pre-school, 5 afterschool centers and home visits conducted in rural areas in order to identify and assist children to obtain the necessary documentation to apply for social grants and to schools.\nWhat will we do while we’re there? This year we will be outfitting a storage container to provide more classrooms for the children. We will also be engaging with the children and staff members. Home visits will be done to meet with the locals and provide prayer and fellowship. We will also spend time with the children in the aftercare program.\nWhere will we stay? We will stay on the mission, a small house with separate rooms and one room with several beds. Women will share a room together and men will share rooms together. \nWhere and what will we eat?  Our meals will be at the preschool in their kitchen.  We enjoy meals together. Dinner is a time of fellowship and a small Bible study. Food is typical American with meat, starch and vegetables. The staff may bless us with a traditional Xhosa meal while we are there.\nShould I drink the water?  It is not encouraged to drink. We provide bottled water while there but there have been times we have boiled the water beforehand and it is drinkable.\nHow will we travel?  We will travel together from the airport to and from South Africa. In South Africa we will drive by automobile (usually trucks) to Canzibe (this is a four hour drive with patches of rough roads). We typically have one overnight stop before driving to Canzibe.\nWhat is the native language?  Xhosa – which is a type of “click” language. Don’t worry, most people speak English where we will be.\nWhat makes me qualified to go on the trip?  You must love the Lord, care for others, and have a servant’s heart.\nWill we have any fun or only work?  We will work throughout the week but we will have a fun/relaxing day before our return to the states.\nWhat if I have questions? You can reach out to the trip leader Dan Williams directly at: danwilliams2540@gmail.com ( mailto:danwilliams2540@gmail.com )\nHow do I apply for the trip?  Apply today using the link provided on this page.*\nApplication Deadline:  April 14, 2026\n*You will be asked to create an account on Managed Missions to apply for the trip. SUMMARY:Working Women Honor God
DESCRIPTION:Are you a working woman of faith? Are you juggling the demands of your workplace, your home and your relationship with Christ? Do you desire to address workplace challenges and opportunities in a supportive community of faith that values transparency, connection and idea sharing? If so, this ministry is for you!\nThe Working Women Honor God ministry seeks to support and encourage women of faith as they navigate workplace challenges, juggle competing demands, and seek to follow Christ. Come join us for quarterly events on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Each event includes refreshments, prayer and worship, networking, Biblical teaching, and idea sharing.\n\nPlease register to let us know you are coming.\n \nFebruary 28: Called to Confidence: Breaking Free from Insecurities & People-Pleasing\nGalatians 1:10 – Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?\nMany working women silently wrestle with insecurity—measuring themselves against others, over-functioning to earn approval, or shrinking back out of fear of disappointing people.\nThis session invites women to rediscover God-rooted confidence – helping you break free from people-pleasing and step into confidence rooted in who God says you are. Through Scripture and practical reflection, you’ll gain clarity around the patterns that undermine confidence and learn how to live and work for God’s approval—not the approval of others.\nAugust 29: Redefining Career Ambition as Faithful Stewardship\nColossians 3:23–24 – Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.\nAmbition is often misunderstood in Christian spaces—either celebrated without discernment or discouraged altogether. Yet Scripture calls believers to steward their gifts faithfully, work diligently, and pursue excellence for God’s glory.\nThis session reframes career ambition through a biblical lens, helping women see their skills, opportunities, influence, and aspirations as God-given responsibilities, not self-serving pursuits. Together, we’ll examine how women can steward their calling with wisdom, humility, and trust in God’s direction.\nOctober 24: Leading Without Compromise: Authenticity Rooted in Faith\nPsalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water…\nIn professional environments that reward image management, conformity, and self-promotion, it can be tempting to lead in ways that feel misaligned with our faith. Many women feel pressure to prove themselves, adapt their values, or silence parts of who they are in order to succeed.\nThis session challenges women to lead with authenticity grounded in faith, not fear. Drawing from Scripture, we’ll explore what it means to lead with integrity and to embrace leadership that reflects Christ-like character, courage, and consistency—leading from wholeness rather than performance.\n
