SUMMARY:Young Adults Community Group
DESCRIPTION:A group of young adults in their 20s and early 30s gather every other Sunday for Bible study, worship, and fellowship (with a break during the summer). Meetings take place the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month from 12:30-2:30PM in Room 1003. This is a space to step away from the busyness of the week, connect with fellow Christians, and grow in faith. The focus is on building community, encouraging one another, and enjoying meaningful fellowship. In addition to Sunday gatherings, the group often gets together for social events and service projects throughout the month. There’s always something happening—come be a part of it!\n\n

SUMMARY:Cash For Corn
DESCRIPTION:In Malawi and neighboring African countries, “gogo” is the local word for grandmother or grandfather.\nThe AIDS pandemic has had a devastating impact across Africa, leaving many grandparents to raise their orphaned grandchildren. Gogo Grandmothers comes alongside these grandparents in Malawi, providing seed and fertilizer for maize (corn) crops that can provide food for their families for an entire year.\nThrough Cash for Corn, all funds raised will help provide the seed and critical fertilizer needed to ensure a successful harvest in the coming growing season. It’s a simple way for us to participate in what God is doing as He provides food and hope for a gogo and her orphaned grandchildren.\nCash for Corn bottles will be available in the lobby on September 13 and 20 at the Outward Ministries Station. Pick up a bottle and fill it with cash, checks, or change, then return it to the lobby on September 27 or October 4. Checks should be made payable to “Gogo Grandmothers.”\nTo get more involved with this ministry, join us for our monthly meeting the 2nd Tuesday of each month: burkecommunity.com/events/gogos-meeting ( https://www.burkecommunity.com/events/gogos-meeting/ )\nFor more information, visit gogograndmothers.com ( https://www.gogograndmothers.com/?utm_source=chatgpt.com ) or email us at gogo@burkecommunity.com.\n

SUMMARY:Chicago 2027 Application Deadline
DESCRIPTION:Join us on a life-changing adventure!\n\nWHO: Our short-term mission team will serve with Chicago partners, Jesse and Emily Bond and YWAM (Youth With A Mission)\nWHAT: Two ministry slots per day—chosen from many options, most of which involve evangelism and are listed on their website ywamchicago.org , but others are possible, e.g. work/ physical service-type projects—with briefing and debriefing tailored to the type of ministry and the needs of the group. We prefer to have groups ride public transportation, i.e. CTA buses and trains (as opposed to using their own vans, Uber, etc.) for the sake of greater exposure to the life of the city and opportunities to shine the light of Jesus in dark places.\nWHERE: Chicago, Illinois.\nWHY: From our Chicago partners: — “Reaching the city to reach the world” means we see the treasure in opportunities to reach many ethnic, cultural and religious groups (Rev. 21:24) gathered in this and other urban areas, brought near by the providence of God (Acts 17:26-27) to hear the Good News of salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ, and to experience—and possibly join—a vibrant demonstration of the kingdom of God’s love expressed through His Church. We want people to witness the message of Jesus and receive Him, and we live out this vision in three main ways: —by providing safe, clean, affordable housing for those who come to live and serve among these people. —by teaching the Bible and evangelizing to the lost (Matthew 28:19-20). —by intercession, esp. praying for kings and rulers (1 Timothy 2:1-4) whose decisions and decrees affect the lives of billions of people.\nPRICE PER PERSON— $800 per person. This includes lodging (a bed, bathrooms, space to eat and relax), three meals per day and roundtrip airfare and ground transportation. Fundraising tips are available from team leaders and the Short-Term Missions Coordinator.\nLODGING: Bunk beds in a dorm-like setting with electricity and central air for heat/ cool. Males and females stay in separate apartments in the same building, but they share meals, team devotions, teaching, relaxing, etc. in a third space, our basement. We have only one bathroom—, sink & —per apartment (part of the reason for the cap on group size), and a 3/4 bath in the basement (toilet, sink and , no tub).\nSAMPLE DAILY SCHEDULE: (may vary depending on partner needs at the time and applicants we receive) 7-8a Breakfast 8-10a Morning routine—personal hygiene, devotions 10-11a Briefing for Water Tower 11a-3p Water Tower outreach, eat lunch out 4-6p Travel to YChi (our building) & debrief 6-7p Dinner, clean up 7-10p Water stations on Devon (outdoor, warm-weather dependent) OR Lincolnwood Mall evangelism (indoor option)\nTRIP SIZE: Trip is limited to 10 males and 10 females. Ages 17 and up. People who are not 18 by the time of the trip departure should have a legal guardian present or an authorization form giving one of the adults from their team a temporary guardianship.\nThe application deadline is April 30, 2027. SUMMARY:Men’s Retreat 2026
DESCRIPTION:Men, mark your calendars! Get ready to join us for another incredible time of fellowship, growth, and spiritual renewal. Registration officially opens on Saturday, August 1st, and you won’t want to miss our exclusive early bird discounts for newcomers and our younger men aged 35 and under!\nWhen & Where:\n\nDates: October 16–18, 2026\nLocation: White Sulphur Springs, Pennsylvania\nTime: Please stay tuned for specific check-in and session times as the retreat approaches\n\n \nThis Year’s Theme: Living the Life of Worship\nWorship is about more than just the songs we sing on Sunday mornings; it is a daily, intentional commitment to honoring God in everything we do. Rooted in Romans 12:1, this year’s theme challenges us to present our everyday moments—our work, our families, and our personal challenges—as a living and holy sacrifice. Together, we will explore what it means to be renewed, restored, and equipped to step boldly into our roles as men of faith, living lives that authentically reflect Christ’s truth and grace to the world around us.\n“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.”(Romans 12:1, NASB)\nGuest Speaker: Brad Bichsel\nWe are thrilled to welcome Brad Bichsel to this year’s retreat! Brad is a passionate worship leader, songwriter, and half of the internationally touring husband-and-wife duo, Brad + Rebekah. Known for his engaging pop-rock vocals and dedication to writing simple, singable worship songs, Brad has spent over a decade leading congregations worldwide alongside his wife. Beyond releasing several acclaimed albums, the couple is deeply committed to hands-on ministry. Brad and his wife currently serve at Christ’s Church of the Valley in Phoenix and partner heavily with Watoto, a childcare ministry in Uganda, where they organize worship camps and collaborate with the Watoto Children’s Choir.\nPricing\nWe want to make sure every man has the opportunity to attend. When registration opens, we will be offering limited first time attendee discounts for newcomers and our younger men as follows:\n\nStandard Registration: $250\nFirst-Time Attendees: $200 (A special $50 discount!)\nYoung Men (Under the age of 35): $150 (An exclusive $100 discount!)\n\n \nA limited amount of scholarships are also available for those in need of further assistance. This year we will be outfitting a storage container to provide more classrooms for the children. We will also be engaging with the children and staff members. Home visits will be done to meet with the locals and provide prayer and fellowship. We will also spend time with the children in the aftercare program.\nWhere will we stay? We will stay on the mission, a small house with separate rooms and one room with several beds. Women will share a room together and men will share rooms together. \nWhere and what will we eat?  Our meals will be at the preschool in their kitchen.  We enjoy meals together. Dinner is a time of fellowship and a small Bible study. Food is typical American with meat, starch and vegetables. The staff may bless us with a traditional Xhosa meal while we are there.\nShould I drink the water?  It is not encouraged to drink. We provide bottled water while there but there have been times we have boiled the water beforehand and it is drinkable.\nHow will we travel?  We will travel together from the airport to and from South Africa. In South Africa we will drive by automobile (usually trucks) to Canzibe (this is a four hour drive with patches of rough roads). We typically have one overnight stop before driving to Canzibe.\nWhat is the native language?  Xhosa – which is a type of “click” language. Don’t worry, most people speak English where we will be.\nWhat makes me qualified to go on the trip?  You must love the Lord, care for others, and have a servant’s heart.\nWill we have any fun or only work?  We will work throughout the week but we will have a fun/relaxing day before our return to the states.\nWhat is the cost? Team members are expected to fundraise $3,600 for the trip. Guidance is provided for fundraising. This price covers all airfare, ground transportation, partial medical & emergency insurance, lodging and meals. A refundable deposit (up to a certain date) of $300 is required after the first team meeting. Funds raised go towards trip expenses. Any funds raised over the required amount go directly to 25:40 as a donation.\nWhat if I have questions? You can reach out to the trip leader Dan Williams directly at: danwilliams2540@gmail.com ( mailto:danwilliams2540@gmail.com )\nHow do I apply for the trip?  Apply today using the link provided on this page.*\nNote: This trip is full, but you may still apply if you wish to be added to the waitlist.\n*You will be asked to create an account on Managed Missions to apply for the trip. This does NOT lock you into any commitment nor does it guarantee that you will be placed on the team. Create an account, input your information and a profile picture, and then select your preferred trip(s). Once your application has been reviewed by Outward Ministries staff you will be notified about team placement. A non-refundable deposit will be collected after the first team meeting. You will also be given tools and training to help raise funds to cover the cost of your trip if you desire to do so.\n\nLearn more about he difference 25:40 is making in South Africa here:\n\nSee the full Short-Term Missions Calendar\n

SUMMARY:Working Women Honor God
DESCRIPTION:Are you a working woman of faith? Are you juggling the demands of your workplace, your home and your relationship with Christ? Do you desire to address workplace challenges and opportunities in a supportive community of faith that values transparency, connection and idea sharing? If so, this ministry is for you!\nThe Working Women Honor God ministry seeks to support and encourage women of faith as they navigate workplace challenges, juggle competing demands, and seek to follow Christ. Come join us for quarterly events on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Each event includes refreshments, prayer and worship, networking, Biblical teaching, and idea sharing.\n\nPlease register to let us know you are coming.\n\nAugust 29: Redefining Career Ambition as Faithful Stewardship\nColossians 3:23–24 – Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.\nAmbition is often misunderstood in Christian spaces—either celebrated without discernment or discouraged altogether. Yet Scripture calls believers to steward their gifts faithfully, work diligently, and pursue excellence for God’s glory.\nThis session reframes career ambition through a biblical lens, helping women see their skills, opportunities, influence, and aspirations as God-given responsibilities, not self-serving pursuits. Together, we’ll examine how women can steward their calling with wisdom, humility, and trust in God’s direction.\nOctober 24: Leading Without Compromise: Authenticity Rooted in Faith\nPsalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water…\nIn professional environments that reward image management, conformity, and self-promotion, it can be tempting to lead in ways that feel misaligned with our faith. Many women feel pressure to prove themselves, adapt their values, or silence parts of who they are in order to succeed.\nThis session challenges women to lead with authenticity grounded in faith, not fear. Drawing from Scripture, we’ll explore what it means to lead with integrity and to embrace leadership that reflects Christ-like character, courage, and consistency—leading from wholeness rather than performance.\n
