Preparing the Way for Jesus

As the Northern and Southern Kingdoms of Israel fell to foreign conquest by 586 BC, the despairing, subject people of Israel felt abandoned by a God they had betrayed. But God, working through his prophets to the people in captivity and behind the scenes throughout the ancient Mediterranean world during the 400 ‘Silent Years’ presented people with a message of hope and the promise of a messiah to save them. Now as then, God never fails to love His people and seek their redemption.
