Women’s Oasis Summer Speaking Series

Join us on Wednesday Evenings in June & July at Burke Community Church for our Oasis: Hold Onto Hope series!

Sometimes, more times than we might like to admit, life doesn’t look pretty. We can’t share a testimony tied up in a pretty bow, but we can rejoice in the One who holds our future in His Hands. Come wait on the Lord with us as we renew our hope in Him.

Arrive at 6:30pm to pick up dinner and be in your seat at 7pm as each week, we will be blessed by various speakers encouraging us to embrace Jesus, as we Hold onto Hope.

***Limited FREE CHILDCARE is available on a first come first served basis. Link to register will appear after you complete Oasis registration***

June 4th: Page Gyatt: Hold Onto Hope Amidst Mental Battles
The mental battle remains real. Page invites you into her struggle with obsessive-compulsive disorder and the hope she clings to in the difficult times. Come, learn to recognize negative thinking and lies about identity. We’ll discover how to replace detrimental thoughts with God’s truth, and in turn, be infused with hope. Various hands-on activities will help ladies practice thankfulness, and meditate on scripture.

June 11th: Cindy Pavell:  Hope Beyond Addiction – The End of Me
Addiction, both chemical and behavioral, ruin the lives of millions of people. They isolate and keep us from serving God and others with our whole heart. This interactive session combines science and practical applications with God’s hope-filled truths.

June 18th: Debbie Onufer- Never Give Up
Troubles come and go, some stay around much longer than we would like, but God is faithful. That’s why we can never give up. We never know when the breakthrough will come. This session will take a look at a few people in the Bible who held onto hope and experienced an outcome far beyond what they imagined. God knows the beginning from the end, and that gives us hope!

June 25th: Valarie Gray: Hold Onto Hope When the Unexpected Happens
[No Childcare Available due to VBS on this date]
How to deal with the unexpected when presented with a medical situation that totally threw Valarie for a loop.

July 2nd: Diane Boucher: Hold Onto Hope While Grieving the Death of Loved Ones
God sustained Diane after the death of her adult son through Scripture, knowing who God is and the redeeming grace of our Savior Jesus. As a class, we will take a look at how imperative it is to read Scripture in context and how this affects how we see God and how doing so sustains our faith and hope in grief.

July 9th: Heather Myers: Hold Onto Hope through the Unchanging Truth of God’s Word
Culture today presents “truth” as constantly shifting sand, but God and His Word are a solid rock we can firmly stand on. The Bible is unchanging and it tells us who God is and who we are in Him, so we can hold onto hope through the truth of Scripture. In addition to looking at how our hope is secure because of Jesus, this session will also include practical strategies for inductive Bible study and Scripture memorization, equipping attendees with tools to hold onto hope in their everyday lives.

July 16th: Monica Bacheler: Hold Onto Hope During Loneliness
For many years, Monica lived in a deep, bitter loneliness — the kind that lingers even when you’re surrounded by people. She felt invisible, unheard, and utterly uncared for. Growing up in a legalistic church, Monica only heard primarily about the wrath of God. Instead of grace and love, she was met with judgment and rejection. Monica was mocked, labeled, and told she was beyond saving. So, Monica ran — from church, from “religion.” She believed that loneliness would protect her. Seemingly, choosing to stay in control, rather than get hurt. But God… God gently rewrote Monica’s story, shattering the lies she believed, with His unrelenting love brought healing, hope, and freedom.

July 23rd: Rita Schulte: Hold onto Hope amidst Loss
Grief and loss touch people in countless ways, but many of us minimize or bury our pain. Let’s explore how unidentified or unresolved loss impacts every area of life, especially our relationship with God. The long-range impact of these losses is often obscured, buried beneath the conscious surface in an attempt to avoid pain. Rita’s heart is to help participants “notice” the losses of life, put words to their pain, and fight the battle to reclaim and reinvest their heart after loss.
