South Africa Short-Term Mission Trip
Join us August 1-10, 2026 for our growing tradition of serving in the South African countryside of Canzibe. This team will primarily focus on construction for the community center of our partnering organization 25:40. In addition to construction, team members will have the opportunity to interact and pray with the wonderful children and adults of this unique South African community.
About Our Partner Organization: 25:40 provides preschool education, after school programs, sport and life coaching to local orphaned and vulnerable children in service areas such as Port Alfred and Canzibe. The OVC (orphaned and vulnerable children) program aims to help children trapped in dire socio-economic conditions. The program includes the Makokhanye pre-school, 5 afterschool centers and home visits conducted in rural areas in order to identify and assist children to obtain the necessary documentation to apply for social grants and to schools.
What will we do while we’re there? This year we will be outfitting a storage container to provide more classrooms for the children. We will also be engaging with the children and staff members. Home visits will be done to meet with the locals and provide prayer and fellowship. We will also spend time with the children in the aftercare program.
Where will we stay? We will stay on the mission, a small house with separate rooms and one room with several beds. Women will share a room together and men will share rooms together.
Where and what will we eat? Our meals will be at the preschool in their kitchen. We enjoy meals together. Dinner is a time of fellowship and a small Bible study. Food is typical American with meat, starch and vegetables. The staff may bless us with a traditional Xhosa meal while we are there.
Should I drink the water? It is not encouraged to drink. We provide bottled water while there but there have been times we have boiled the water beforehand and it is drinkable.
How will we travel? We will travel together from the airport to and from South Africa. In South Africa we will drive by automobile (usually trucks) to Canzibe (this is a four hour drive with patches of rough roads). We typically have one overnight stop before driving to Canzibe.
What is the native language? Xhosa – which is a type of “click” language. Don’t worry, most people speak English where we will be.
What makes me qualified to go on the trip? You must love the Lord, care for others, and have a servant’s heart.
Will we have any fun or only work? We will work throughout the week but we will have a fun/relaxing day before our return to the states.
What if I have questions? You can reach out to the trip leader Dan Williams directly at: [email protected]
