1st Timothy Unplugged

Step into an honest, verse-by-verse journey through 1st Timothy, designed specifically for women who want to grow deeper as disciples of Jesus. We’ll slowly walk-through Paul’s letter, “unplugging” the noise of culture to hear God’s clear call to sound doctrine, sincere faith, and everyday godliness. Together we’ll explore how 1st Timothy shapes our identity, influences our homes, relationships, and equips us to serve Christ and His church with courage and clarity. This class is part of Burke Community Church’s discipleship emphasis—helping women not only know Christ more deeply, but also live and lead in ways that make Him known. Whether you’re newer to Bible study or a long-time believer, you’ll find a welcoming environment, rich discussion, and practical application for real life. Teachers: Frances Santiago & Barb Parker

Messianic Psalms Unplugged

The book of Psalms is a collection of inspired songs used in worship of God and many of them foretell the coming of the Messiah, predicting events that were fulfilled in the life of Jesus Christ. In total, twenty-five different psalms (one out of every six psalms) include at least one messianic prophecy. Messianic psalms are quoted in eleven New Testament books, especially the gospels and the book of Acts. In this “unplugged” style class, we will journey through these 25 psalms and their New Testament connections to learn more about Jesus: His birth, His nature and name, His ministry, His betrayal and death, His resurrection and exaltation, and the future with Him. Teachers: Dawn Wyckoff & Kristin Horst

Mastering Your Emotions: From Coping to Overcoming by Judy Rossi

Are there times when negative emotions master you and run your life? Anger? Fear? Worry? Anxiety? Discontent? If your answer is “Yes!” or even “Sometimes”, how do you think God responds to the competition? This study will challenge the triggers that can draw you into defeat or merely coping from day to day by laying a biblical foundation for what Christ fulfilled 2000 years ago. Discover the joy, security, stability, and freedom you can live out in Him daily “by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). Teachers: Judy Rossi & Megan Edwards

Amos: An Invitation to the Good Life by Jennifer Rothschild

The book of Amos promotes the God life and the God life is the good life! Through this study, you’ll be invited to live assured, faithful, chosen, humble, prayerful and hopeful. Ultimately, you’ll be invited to “seek God and live” (Amos 5:4) Teachers: Mickie Miller & Christine Little

This study will equip you to overcome challenges, strengthen your faith, and trust God’s sovereign plan. Connect with other women, reflect on His promises, and be reminded of God’s Mercy and Faithfulness while rebuilding what matters most in your heart, home, and community. Teachers: Mary Kesting & Rita Schulte

Old Testament (Unplugged)

Do you think the OT is just filled with boring lists of hard-to-say names, bizarre rules, evil kings, prophets spewing doom, and violent displays of wrath? Think again! With the Bible as our text, this class will provide an overview of the OT as we study selections from the books of Law, History, Poetry, and Prophets, with a particular emphasis on how Jesus is revealed. We will glimpse the glory of God as we see His plan for redemption unfold in the pages of Scripture and in our own lives.

Young Women: Acts 13-28: Part 2 God’s Power at the Ends of the Earth by Phyllis LePeau

The power of the Holy Spirit is front and center in the Book of Acts as it records the transformation of the disciples from fearful and doubting men to men confident and bold in proclaiming Christ, even at great personal risk. Empowered by the Spirit of God, these early believers faced imprisonment, beatings, rejection and martyrdom, yet persevered to spread the Good News in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and throughout the known world. That same power can transform us today to be bold for Jesus. Join us for this study of the second half of Acts and experience the calling, healing, empowering and sending dynamic of the Holy Spirit in your life.

Heaven: When Faith Becomes Sight by Jennifer Rothschild

Heaven! We hear songs about Heaven, watch movies about Heaven, read all sorts of books about Heaven and listen to stories from those who say they've allegedly been to Heaven. What's true? What should we believe about where we will spend eternity? Here we will come away with a biblical perspective as we separate what is scriptural from what is legend and fiction. Knowing what is true can strengthen our faith and bring peace about eternity along with excitement for the return of Jesus. Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us! Teachers: Diane Boucher, Tanya Cooper & Tebogo Kgosana-DeSilva
