The History of the Bible
The History of the Bible
April 30, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
The Bible is the most studied book in the world and has been produced in more copies than any book in history. Debated by scholars over time for its age, content and accuracy, the Bible covers about 1,600 years of history with the appointment of Abraham by God to be a chosen people to bring about God’s plan of salvation for humanity, assembled by over 40 authors. This course will cover the history of the Bible, going back its Jewish sacred roots, which Christians call the Old Testament, to the New Testament, bringing the Gospel message of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The course will look at the structure of the Bible, its relation to human history, its human authors and the Bible’s overarching message throughout its entire content. The course will also address the criterion for becoming canon for both Jews in the Old Testament period and the Christian Church in the New Testament period. Attendees will be provided with handouts throughout the course. The course will meet at 9:00 on Sunday morning starting on January 8th and continue into April. Instructor: Bill Soderberg.
